Corset Cake by DarkMindsEye Corset Cake by DarkMindsEye
Ok, it's offical, I am becoming known as the lady who makes the boobie cakes around here. I want to make something cute...stripes or polkadots and flowers...no more boobies.

Edit to add:

Wow, I can't believe this was featured as a Daily Deviation today. I logged in and saw all the favorites and comments and I was so excited I woke my husband up to come see. Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments!

If anyone wants to make a cake like this, I used a 12" heart and the Wilton sports ball pan. I trimmed a little bit off of the sides of the heart to make more of an hourglass silhouette. I use marshmallow fondant, which is tasty and extremely affordable. Here's the recipe that I use: [link]

Corset Cake by ~DarkMindsEye. Absolutely must be seen in fullview because as the suggester said, "When I saw it, I only wanted to say: 'wow! Nice Corset! I want something like this,' then I was: 'omg! This is a cake!!'" ( Suggested by Docali and Featured by Kitten-of-Woe )

How did you get that texture on the corset? Also it looks fabulous <3 I want booby cake.

I used a placemat that had a bumpy texture. Roll the fondant out, dust the placemat (or impression mat) with cornstarch on a pastry brush, then put the mat on the fondant and go over it with a rolling pin.

Thank you!

For some reason, "anatomy" cakes are always easier than a regular cake. On this particular one, I was having trouble with humidity softening the fondant, and it tore after I put it on the boobs. That's why there's a necklace there, to cover up a couple of rough spots.

Imagine how many sex jokes you could make at an office party with this beauty! So many awkward moments to savor!
Ex: "I'd like a bite of that!"
See, it just flows, without even trying.
No really, that looks tasty....wait...
It doesn't stop!!

This is going to sound odd, but did you use the buttercream icing, or can you use regular icing to ice the cake with first?

I always use buttercream, not the store-bought icing. It doesn't perform as well under fondant, because it's thinner and more greasy than my buttercream. The store-bought stuff also tastes like chemicals. It doesn't crust, so it's harder to smooth.

If you didn't want to use buttercream, you could also use ganache. I haven't tried it, but a lot of my friends tried it after reading the Planet Cake book and they all say it works really well. You can make ganache with white chocolate too.

I didn't mean to sound grouchy! :D I have a friend who always asks for fondant decorations to put on her cakes, but then she uses canned frosting and my decorations wilt...so I've gotten used to stressing the importance of good buttercream to people. I have a really good buttercream recipe that another friend gave me. I wouldn't feel like I could post it here since it belongs to her, but if you want the recipe, I'd be glad to send it to you in a note :D

I was thinking that I don't know if I'd be able to eat that cake....I mean, eating someone's boobies? (they made a foot cake on Ace of Cakes one time and I thought that was even weirder, haha)

Anyways, I really do like the texture on the black. It makes it look less...Cake-ish, for lack of a better word :p

I can't wait to see this on Cake Wrecks as one of those cakes with wonderful execution, but a terrible concept. "Mutilated random torso cakes" are always priceless.

And if you think this one looks like a mutilated torso, you should check out the nude torso cake I made before.

At first I never wanted to see any of my cakes cut. Now that it doesn't take as long to make each one, it doesn't bother me as much.

It's funny, what most people like to do with fondant cakes is poke them. When I take a cake somewhere, it's hard not to stand there with my spatula ready to whack them if they attempt to poke it.

LOL...it's not the eaters who bother me, it's the pokers. The people who come up to the cake while it's sitting there on display, andhave never encountered a fondant covered cake before, and so they stick their finger into it to see what it's made of. Fondant being the way it is, the cake usually ends up with a dent, a fingernail mark and a fingerprint. My daughter made a cake for a contest once, and when we got it back, it was poked so much that we lost all urge to eat it.
